Yokogawa releases YTA610 temperature transmitter

December 2016 Temperature Measurement

Yokogawa has announced the release of the YTA610 temperature transmitter. Although the YTA610 is a mid-range model, it has the same dual- compartment housing for the transmitter terminal block and electronics that is used with the company’s high-end models, ensuring excellent environmental resistance.

Product features

Dual-compartment housing

Many of the mid-range temperature transmitters on the market today cannot be installed in locations where they will be subject to extreme temperatures and high humidity. Although the YTA610 is a mid-range model, it has the same dual-compartment housing found in high-end models such as the YTA710; with the terminal block and electronics in separate compartments, the YTA610 has outstanding environmental resistance.

Choice of the latest digital communication protocols

The YTA610 supports the latest versions of the HART and Foundation Fieldbus communications protocols, HART 7 and ITK 6. As such, the YTA610 complies with the IEC 61508 standard, which was specified by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for the functional safety of electrical and electric equipment. Early next year, it is expected that the YTA610 will be certified as meeting the requirements for safety integrity level (SIL) 2, as defined by the IEC.

Improved self-diagnostics and sensor diagnostic functions

Each of the transmitters in the YTA series comes with a variety of diagnostic functions that can detect problems with the transmitter such as a disconnected sensor. In addition to these functions, the YTA610 features a variety of new prognostic functions that will improve maintenance efficiency by making it possible to predict when calibration and other maintenance procedures will need to be performed.

Local parameter setting

Software developed especially for the new YTA models is available that facilitates the setting of parameters for transmitters and other field devices. Basic parameter setting can be performed by just pressing buttons on the indicator. As this eliminates the need for a PC, this is especially convenient when working in the field.
