New safety products from Pepperl+Fuchs

January 2015 IS & Ex

Pepperl+Fuchs offers a wide range of Ex e certified control stations and control units for operation in hazardous areas. Four comprehensive product series, covering all requirements on control and monitoring of machinery and production plant sections, have been completely redesigned and feature new, flexibly combinable operation elements.

All devices are certified Ex de and Ex tb for use in all gas and dust explosion hazardous areas up to Zone 1 and 21. Furthermore, the control stations are certified Ex ib. Durable materials allow use even in areas with harsh environmental conditions or high requirements on hygiene. Up to 56 operating elements can be integrated in one stainless steel enclosure. Cable entries and gland types can be adapted as specified by the customer.

The new operator elements cover the following functions:

• Pushbuttons featuring various colours and labels.

• Illuminated pushbuttons.

• LED indicators.

• Mushroom pushbuttons with various release functions.

• Rotary switches with up to four positions, covering various switching actions, contact configurations and mechanical designs.

• Potentiometers in various resistance ranges.

• Ammeters with various scales.

• Comprehensive choice of accessories including various label holders, emergency stop flaps and accidental operation shrouds with locking feature.

Several enclosure ranges offer optimal protection

The basis of the control units is formed by two series of high-quality enclosures. The GLCP series is based on enclosures made from glass fibre reinforced polyester. Seven different sizes are available. Up to 35 of the new operator elements can be integrated in one enclosure, thus allowing the design of the most space-efficient control solution. The enclosures are UV stabilised, their smooth surface facilitates cleaning.

Control stations of the FXLSCP series are manufactured from durable stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance and are available in five sizes. Their electro-polished surface provides tarnish protection and meets high requirements on hygiene. The largest enclosure version is ready for the integration of up to 56 operating elements. The FXLSCP enclosures feature a return flange sealing method which prevents accumulated dust, dirt and moisture from entering the enclosure when the hinged lid is opened.

Control units can be equipped with up to four operator elements, freely combinable from a wide range of control functions. The LCP series is based on glass fibre reinforced enclosures, the LCS series covers stainless steel enclosures in various sizes. All feature two cable entries, the bottom one is furnished with a polyamide Ex e cable gland as a standard.
