Ultrasonic sensors with two outputs

September 2005 Sensors & Transducers

Instrotech's range of Senix ultrasonic sensors is intended for non-contact air distance measurement operating from 50 mm to 11,3 m. The design is suitable for material sensing - and is unaffected by object colour, transparency or optical characteristics. Both flat and curved objects can be detected.

All common outputs are included: proportional voltage 0 to 10 V d.c. two 4 to 20 mA, current loops, two transistor switches and serial data. Outputs can be adjusted either by pushbutton or computer. Ultrasensor automatically spans and polarises outputs without potentiometers, screwdrivers or test equipment.

The sensors can be connected to any PC compatible with Senix's SoftSpan software package. Output values and conditions, setpoint alarms etc, are set up via a menu. This can be carried out without the sensor being installed - the sensor permanently retains configurations. Set-up files can be stored on disk and recalled any time later to configure another exact copy of an application set-up. Ultrasensor is available in a plastic casing or stainless steel. As standard, all sensors are supplied with snap brackets and field cables. Options are available for monitoring, configuration and displays.
