New range of miniature GPS receivers

October 2003 Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration Infrastructure

The GPS-003 module is the latest 12-channel GPS technology offering from Nagasaki IPC. With a miniature form-factor (45 x 30 x 13 mm without housing), the GPS-003 is a suitable solution for integration into applications such as laptops and PDAs where space and weight is at a premium.

The GPS-003 GPS receiver is designed for rapid start up and performs well in heavy foliage and urban environments. It applies the latest semiconductor technology in order to provide robust performance. With reacquisition times of under 100 milliseconds and an operating temperature range of between -40 and +85°C the GPS-003 is able to meet the most demanding requirements.

Enhanced position and velocity filtering contribute to smooth navigation, with an onboard patch antenna and RS232 driver for simple interfacing. The unit consists of a GPS-003 unit housed in translucent case, Windows-based evaluation software, and an operation manual. An optional evaluation kit can be obtained to determine the performance of the module.

Connectivity options, in the GPS-003 range, include: RS232 and PS/2 (Power), Mini DIN (for use with PDA), USB (for both Notebook and PC connectivity) and SMA (for general use without passive antennae).
