IAC to host industrial data conference

September 2007 News

South Africa's specialist industrial data communication company, Industrial Automation & Control (IAC), a subsidiary of the Communica Group, will be hosting a technology conference: 'Technology Infrastructure to 2010 and Beyond' from 8-10 October. The conference, to be held at St George Hotel in Centurion, will highlight upcoming technical advances and their application.

"With the 2010 Soccer World Cup fast approaching, there are many areas in which state-of-the-art communications and security technologies will be needed," says Burg van der Westhuizen, CEO of IAC. "IAC has attracted the highest quality speakers who will clearly define which technologies hold the potential to be successfully installed in business over the next few years.

"There will also be presentations of local and international case studies highlighting successful technology implementations and the benefits experienced."

Local celebrity and businessperson, Tim Modise, will provide the keynote presentation and Clem Sunter will be speaking, as will representatives from Anglo American's head office, Anglo Platinum and Lonmin Platinum. Laurie Burns, director of marketing for Hirschmann, will present a 5-year technology roadmap from this leading Industrial Ethernet company.

Presentations will occupy the first two days of the conference. The third day will be devoted to demonstration sessions in which technologies from different vendors will be on display. Technicians will take a hands-on approach to demonstrate their product's full potential.

Apart from best-selling data communications products like the Hirschmann Industrial Ethernet range, IAC will also be highlighting the latest in video technology from companies such as Mobotix. Solutions for multi-operator control centre environments will be on display along with the latest in video over IP camera technology.
