Temperature Measurement

Temperature logger for diverse applications

July 2002 Temperature Measurement

TIM Controls, exclusive distributor in southern Africa for the Hioki range of test and measurement instruments, has a new temperature logger, designed for accurate temperature measurement and control in diverse applications.

The easy-to-use Hioki 3650 device is a button-type logger, with a built-in temperature sensor. This ultra compact, lightweight unit stores approximately 2000 measurements across a temperature range of -40 to +85°C, with a recording interval adjustable from 1 to 255 minutes. This means recording can be extended over a period of nearly one year - with a guarantee that no data will be lost.

In spite of its small button size, the unit has many features that result in new applications for temperature loggers in temperature control systems. Upper and lower temperature alarm limits automatically detect abnormal temperatures - a critical feature in the shipping and receiving of perishable commodities.

A special anti-bacterial holder, with magnetic or screw mounting, enables secure and easy installation and an IP67 rating means this waterproof device can operate efficiently outdoors. For efficient temperature management, a fully compatible Hioki data reader enables recorded data to be downloaded onto a personal computer where it can be displayed as graphs or plotted as temperature distributions for analysis and storage. A built-in memo-recording feature enables the user to record important information, such as the place and time of measurement. The internal battery lasts up to five years.

The device is designed for temperature management at all stages of food and beverage refrigeration, including processing, storage, display and shipping. The temperature logger can also be used in research, agriculture and horticulture applications, as well as in commercial and industrial kitchens and dining areas. The Hioki 3650 logger is also suitable for the management of air-conditioning systems in commercial, medical and industrial environments.

TIM Controls supports the Hioki range with a full technical advisory and back-up service throughout the country. All products conform to stringent international quality and safety specifications.
