The Omni2 door warning sign and Omni2S slave alarm unit from Omniflex are safety-critical alarm systems designed to provide audible and visual warning to personnel when abnormal environment conditions are present. The door warning sign neatly mounts on a door or wall outside of the high risk area, whilst the slave is used to expand alarm functionality to other areas. Both units conveniently connect to environmental monitoring devices such as a gas detectors, level detectors and radiation detectors, to provide warning when a hazardous condition is present.
Most monitoring devices are equipped with their own alarm warning indicator; however these devices are not always in view of personnel or inside the hazardous environment. This leaves personnel at risk and unaware of any danger. The Omni2S slave is designed to be used as a repeat alarm for these monitoring devices and is mounted inside the hazardous environment to warn personnel to leave. The Omni2 door warning sign is designed to be mounted on or adjacent to the door to stop access when a hazardous condition is present. Designed for use in a wide range of industries, they provide a highly reliable alarm system to increase the safety of personnel and meet the safety requirements of IEC61508 SIL2 critical applications, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
Applications include nuclear power sites for warning of airborne contamination and high radiation conditions; water treatment plants for warning of chlorine, ammonia, hydrogen sulphide, methane and oxygen deficiency; and hospitals and healthcare for warning of high radiation conditions.

At its peak in 1994, the energy generation capacity of the UK’s nuclear power stations was 12,7 GW across 16 plants. In 2024, the capacity has fallen to around 5 GW, and the number of stations is down to nine. However, this is far from the end of the story as spent nuclear fuel remains radioactive for centuries, and requires rigorous safety processes to safeguard against leaks.
