WIKA’s Cape Town branch operates a satellite calibration laboratory affiliated to the main laboratory at the Johannesburg Head Office. The Cape Town facility consists of both a stationary laboratory at the branch, as well as a mobile calibration vehicle for onsite calibration.
In 2014 the satellite laboratory received SANAS accreditation for pressure, and it has now also received a SANAS accreditation for temperature calibration. Under the accreditation schedule, it can issue certificates for the temperature range -30 to 600ºC for thermocouples, platinum resistance thermometers, digital thermometers and mechanical (dial) thermometers. MetCert metrologists Johan Shepherd and Edwin Lyen are technical signatories for the laboratory.
