Bytes Universal Systems is one of three companies globally, and the first in Africa, to be recognised as a MESA Recognised Business by MESA International. MESA Recognised Businesses are companies that support the MESA community with their people, their time and their financial support. Such support is critical to making progress as a community and influencing change in industry for the betterment of all.
The MESA International Recognition Standards represent an expectation that MESA members and member companies share knowledge and follow sound business practices that enhance industry’s trust and confidence in the MESA community. The standards build on MESA’s commitment to provide a safe, non-commercial environment for manufacturer/producer companies to share experiences and learn how and why to use modern Information Technologies (IT) in their manufacturing enterprises.
Recognised businesses have made a commitment to the MESA community at the company level and invested in the in-depth training of our Global Education Program for their professional employees. To be recognised, a business must:
• Be a current MESA Premium Company member (manufacturer/producer or solution provider).
• Employ a required number of MESA-Recognised Practitioners based on organisational size.
• Deliver one or more successful consulting, service or product-related industrial IT/manufacturing enterprise solutions projects annually.
• Meet all applicable requirements of MESA’s Recognition Standards.
Industrial IT/manufacturing enterprise solutions service areas cover a wide array of technologies and solutions in the manufacturing-IT domain, including but not limited to: Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) systems, manufacturing intelligence, data collection, analytics, quality, asset performance management, workflow automation, enterprise connectivity, plant-to-enterprise integration and more.
Bytes Universal Systems is currently the company with the most recognised MESA practitioners globally. MESA recognition allows individual practitioners to:
• Elevate the value of their own personal capabilities.
• Strengthen their professional networks and connection.
MESA recognition allows businesses to:
• Show current and prospective clients their ability to keep up with the speed-of-business today.
• Attract talented people.
MESA recognition allows everyone to ensure that educated buyers and sellers can recognise each other, define and deliver solutions faster and reduce risk, costs and time-to-value.
Says Gerhard Greeff, chairman of the MESA Southern Africa Special Interest Group: “Industry has long been asking for certification and recognition of MES/MOM practitioners and businesses. There have been two important initiatives leading up to the MESA recognition programme. The first was for MESA to obtain IACET accreditation for its MES/MOM certification programme in 2011 and the second was for the MESA board to define and approve the standards and prerequisites for the recognition programme in 2015. As a result of the recognition programme it is now possible for manufacturers and producers to identify individuals and businesses who are educated and well versed in the intricacies of MES/MOM implementations.
I believe the best business results from a MES/MOM implementation is achieved when educated buyers and sellers come together to develop a solution. The MESA recognition programme goes a long way in enabling this to happen. I see a time in the not too distant future where the bulk of MES/MOM work will go to MESA Recognised Businesses with the client MES/MOM teams consisting of mostly MESA Recognised Practitioners.”
