Telco’s range of sensors is ideal for applications found in the agriculture, farming, food and beverage sectors. The high performance characteristics and hardwearing design of the sensors have proven themselves ideal for the harsh conditions found in these industries. The highly contaminated (dirt, dust, water, spray) environments of such applications, in harvesting machines or chocolate rollers, are the perfect challenge and the sensors can be found in a range of optical sensing applications including meat and poultry plants, industrial farming and fisheries, as well as confectionary plants. The sensors are typically used for sorting, counting and positioning.
One of the many successful applications is on large chocolate rollers. Telco’s SMP proximity switches are mounted on either side of the roller. By simple adjustment of the potentiometer, the SMP penetrates through the chocolate build-up covering the lens to detect the presence of chocolate on the roller. When the chocolate is no longer present the rollers are immediately stopped. Similarly the SMP is used for high/low level detection of chocolate in the feeder chute.
