BM25 portable wireless gas detector

Technews Industry Guide - Wireless 2014 Industrial Wireless

As wireless technology reaches new capabilities, so the integration of wireless gas detection systems in industrial applications is on the increase. In line with market demand, Sperosens has introduced the upgraded BM25 wireless to bring users freedom and flexibility in addition to all the standard features of the original device.

The mesh topology of the BM25 provides coverage versatility and high fault tolerance as well as reducing the installation and operating costs of networks. In a mesh network all hosts are connected peer-to-peer without central hierarchy, thereby forming a net-like structure. Each node can receive, send and relay data thus avoiding disruption on the network. If a node is down, the other nodes simply choose another route.

Adding a BM 25 to an existing network is as easy as turning it on, as the device is automatically added to the network. If a BM 25 goes into gas alarm, all other BM25’s on the network will report a corresponding alarm. If a BM 25 does not respond to network communication requests, all other units will annunciate a communication fault error. In all cases, the local gas detection capability remains effective and each BM 25 will provide local alarm capability in the presence of gas.

An oil field service company that provides gas detection, breathing air and site watch services for oil & gas drilling rigs has chosen the BM 25 to protect its teams when portable or fixed detection systems are not suitable. The BM 25 is particularly designed for such applications: its resistance to harsh environments ensures continuous functionality regardless of dust, oil or water fallout.
