Hygienic valves

April 2014 Valves, Actuators & Pump Control

PSV Mitech has been manufacturing hygienic valves, fittings and pipework for the food processing, brewing and medical sectors for the past 26 years. In these industries poor hygienic design and inferior build quality can affect the quality and microbiological safety of the processing equipment. All surfaces in contact with the food must be cleanable, since equipment which is difficult to clean will require more aggressive chemicals and longer cleaning cycles, resulting in higher costs, lost production time and increased effluent.

Surface roughness can also have a significant influence on hygiene requirements. The greater the surface roughness, the longer the cleaning time required. PSV Mitech’s hygienic valves are mirror polished to discourage bacterial growth and cavity-free for easy cleaning; and with their robust design they offer a long operational life.

The valves are suitable for CIP operation in temperatures up to 150°C and are available in sizes ranging from 25 to 100 mm. They have a 316 stainless steel body and are ANSI#150 approved with a choice of field reversible fail-closed or fail-open action. Rated for 1000 kPa, they can be used with double acting or spring return actuators. If required, steam jackets can be supplied to prevent the medium from coagulating.

PSV Mitech’s expertise in the food processing, brewing and medical sectors also extends to drawing up specifications to customer requirements, backed by after sales service which includes technical advice and maintenance support.
