Omron expands M18 photoelectric range

March 2014 Sensors & Transducers

Omron has redesigned and expanded its popular M18 cylindrical photoelectric range. Renowned for high quality and product reliability, the new generation represents one of the largest varieties of dependable and easy-to-use photoelectric sensors on the market.

The new E3FA/E3F1 series was recently launched and is the first Omron range based on a newly developed platform for photoelectric sensors that contains high performance sensing technology, easy usage and an extensive line-up featuring both standard and special functions.

Typically installed in industrial plants ranging from food and beverage, pharmaceutical, textiles, ceramics and brick production, through to logistics, there’s an E3FA model to fit every application. This extensive series with high reliability and enhanced performance includes through-beam, retro-reflective and diffuse reflective types, in both straight and radial versions. Straight versions are also available with background-suppression, limited reflective detection and transparent object detection for special applications. All models are available in plastic or metal housings.

Omron’s compact E3FA series of photoelectric sensors is simple and quick to mount, as well as easy and intuitive to set up. The large and robust adjuster makes life easy for installers to adjust the sensor, as does the bright, high-power red LED, which is clearly visible for easy alignment even over longer distances. Similarly, the sensor’s LED status indicator can be viewed from long distances and wide angles.

Especially designed for machines that never stop, the rugged E3FA series offers completely reliable sensing in a robust and waterproof housing that can withstand even high-pressure cleaning. This series also has high EMC protection and light immunity. In addition, there is the added benefit of the high-power LED, which contributes to high sensing stability even in environments with dust or vibrations.

These are the first products introduced with the new 361° approach. With this new, ambitious product strategy, Omron has developed a complete all-round set of solutions that puts customers at the centre of the product selection process. This helps eliminate over-specification while simultaneously increasing reliability, an approach that leads to an extra degree of confidence.

Three distinct lines are available within each sensor category. LITE products are cost-effective without any compromise in quality. PRO products represent the ‘install and forget’ option, offering longer lifetime, higher protection and more features. While PRO Plus products are designed for specific applications or customer demands.
