For Karabo Sekano and Thekiso Michael Hlabeli, their dreams of becoming skilled instrumentation technicians are closer to realisation as they start a year of apprenticeship training at Vega Instruments SA.
These young men are part of Vega’s expanding training programme and will be with the company for 2012 as they complete their National Diploma at the University of Johannesburg. Karabo, who grew up in Rustenburg and matriculated at Zinnieville Secondary School says, “I love it at Vega. The staff has been welcoming and I could not have gone to a better company for my apprenticeship. I feel that I have already grown as a person since being here.”
Karabo is keen to learn all he can about how instruments are designed and made and hopes eventually to start his own company.
Thekiso hails from the Vaal township of Boipatong and matriculated at Jet Nteo Secondary School. He is a keen footballer and is the older brother of two siblings, a sister and brother. Thekiso says he appreciates the opportunity to work at Vega Instruments and has learnt so much already. His goal is to become one of the best technicians at Vega.
