Gigabit Ethernet workgroup switch

What makes the new Hirschmann MACH104-16TX-PoEP remarkable is the Gigabit speed and 246 W PoE Plus power in a housing only one unit high.
The switch offers 16 TX ports (10/100/1000 BASE-TX) that support PoE and PoE Plus as well as four combo-ports (10/100/1000 BASE-TX or 100/1000 BASE-FX). There are also versions available with two 10-Gigabit XFP uplinks or a redundant power supply as well as a fanless variant with an external power supply unit. This means that the MACH104-16TX-PoEP can be used for versatile and therefore economic solutions to implement connections to terminal equipment such as IP cameras and VoIP phones on backbone automation networks.
Features
The 16 PoE ports offer a combined power of 246 W, which could be used to power, for instance, up to 16 IP cameras. The high bandwidth also offers sufficient reserves to simultaneously transmit the video streams of those same cameras. The new Hirschmann MACH104-16TX-PoEP switch can also be integrated into Profinet and Ethernet/IP networks and offers a number of additional features including extensive management and redundancy facilities and various configuration and diagnostic functions. Its high level of resistance to vibration and shocks coupled with broad immunity to magnetic fields and electrostatic discharges contribute to the unit’s operational safety. Since the switch is geared for a temperature range of 0 to +50°C it can also be used inside switch cabinets without powerful cooling systems.
Redundancy systems such as HIPER ring, MRP (IEC ring function), rapid spanning tree and link aggregation ensure a high level of network availability. The extensive security mechanisms provided include multiclient authentication via Radius server, access control via IEEE 802.1x or MAB (MAC Authentication Bypass), IP and MAC port security plus SNMP V3 and SSH. The switch status can also be monitored locally using indicator contacts while detailed information can be displayed via a standard web browser.
The integrated SNMP interface offers an additional centralised management function that makes it possible to use network management software such as Industrial HiVision.

Loop signature Part 2-2: Feedforward Control: Part 1
Michael Brown Control Engineering
Fieldbus & Industrial Networking
Feedforward control is a powerful technique that can dramatically improve control variance in cases where load changes cause big deviations from setpoint and the actual process dynamics are too slow to allow the feedback controller to operate fast enough to catch these disturbances.
