Represented locally by Shorrock Automation, IFM Electronic has released details of the new Efector Valvis sensor designed for position feedback on linear valves with a stroke of up to 80 mm. The sensor is fitted over the valve spindle and continuously measures the stroke and previously selected switch points transmit the actual limits of travel to the controller.
Efector Valvis signals up to three important valve positions to the controller, valve open, valve closed and any position in between such as the seat lift. The resolution of 0,2 mm across the entire measuring range allows preventive maintenance of the valve disc seals. This way the maintenance intervals can be adapted to the actual wear, which in turn increases operational life and availability.
Using Efector Valvis means that complex mounting of several individual position sensors is no longer required. Convenient programming of the switch points by simply pushing a button replaces the time-consuming mechanical adjustment to the respective valve positions. Mounting tolerances or sensing ranges do not need to be taken into account any more. The manufacturer claims that results in mounting and adjustment in a fraction of the time previously required.
