Baumer has designed and developed the ParCon line sensor for the accurate side measurement of web edges, measuring the width of objects or detecting small objects. There is a 25 mm wide parallel beam projected between the sensor and the reflector, and this permits fast detection of edges.
Measurement with the ParCon is accurate, regardless of whether the object is thick or thin or whether it is located close to the sensor or directly in front of the reflector. The device can resolve object widths at a resolution of 0,1 mm. Its small size means that the sensor can be easily integrated into virtually any machine. The sensor can also be supplied with a switching output. Small, fast-moving parts down to 0,5 mm can be reliably detected. A simple teach-in process defines the minimum detected part size.
