A new range of short proximity switches with long sensing ranges has been introduced by IFM Electronic. Suitable for use where space is limited, such as in position detection in automation and handling applications, the switches are available in M12 and M18 designs with a robust M8 connector for speedy mounting.
Their increased sensing range of 4 to 7 mm for the M12 and 8 to 12 mm for the M18 type is ensured, which is up to double the sensing range in comparison to standard switches. Connection is made via the robust M8 connector with an integrated, clearly visible, four-port LED for indication of the output status. The total length of the switches is only 46 mm for the flush mounted type and 51 mm for the non-flush mounted type. A permanently legible, laser type label, ensures that the switches can be clearly identified, even after many years of operation.
Operating on 10 to 36 V d.c. the switches have protection against reverse polarity and overloads, and operate in a temperature range from -25 to 70°C. Housed in a special coated brass material, the switches meet IP 67 requirements and are vibration and shock resistant.
