Dick Morley passes away

Automation industry legend Dick Morley passed away on 17 October 2017. Widely known as the ‘Father of the PLC’, he was the initial designer of the first programmable logic controller, produced by Modicon nearly 50 years ago.
Morley was a fervent entrepreneur and heavily active in engineering and automation education, especially with the International Society of Automation. His contributions were acknowledged through numerous awards and induction into the Manufacturing Hall of Fame. Morley worked out of his barn in New Hampshire where he and his wife also provided a home to 40 foster children.
